A. Inspections
Based on the client’s needs, inspections can range from a simple verbal reports on what needs to be fixed and how long the roof will last to multi-page written reports covering history, composition, condition, anomalies, recommendations, projected cost, photographs and drawings.

B. Roof Management
The typical roof management project involves annual inspections, assessments of the roof’s condition and life expectancy, identification of needed repairs, written reports with drawings and photographs, and a year by year budget for maintenance and replacement.

C. Roof Design
Roofs are designed considering the client’s budget vs. life cycle cost of the roof, environment, condition of existing substrate, sensitivity of building contents to roof leaks, roof traffic, and the expertise of the client’s maintenance personnel. No roof system is suitable for all applications, and no roof system is unsuitable for all applications. Complete bid packages can be prepared so that roofers can compete fairly on the roof project. Complete construction documents can be prepared for negotiating with pre-selected roofers. Documents will include contract requirements, specifications, drawings and details for the specific project. Full services includes periodic inspections of the roofer’s work and authorization of pay requests.

About Us

BIGHAM ROOF CONSULTING is an independent roof consultant service, not affiliated with any roofing company or roof manufacturer. It is owned and operated by John T. Bigham, RA RRC CCS. Mr. Bigham is a registered architect with forty years experience and has specialized in roofing and waterproofing projects the last twenty years. Roofing projects have ranged in size from private residences to industrial plants up to 1,000,000 s.f. Typical projects are government or commercial, but have included historical restoration as well as other types. His architectural background has given him the ability to address problems that are indirectly related to the roof or appear to be related to the roof, such as faulty masonry or through-wall flashing. Waterproofing projects have ranged from new wastewater treatment plants to solving long term leaking problems in century old buildings. He is a Registered Roof Consultant with the Roof Consultants Institute, the only one in West Tennessee and one of only 376 in the world. He is also a Certified Construction Specifier with the Construction Specifications Institute.
